【Alliance News】2025 CSGO Successfully Concludes — Joining Forces for the Future, Witnessing the Next Chapter of the Gallium Oxide Industry with the Alliance

The 5th Cross-Strait Conference on Gallium Oxide and Related Materials and Devices was successfully held at the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory from October 10th to 12th, 2025. This conference was hosted by the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Wide Band Gap and Ultra-Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Materials. The event is jointly organized by Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, Southern University of Science and Technology, Journal of Synthetic Crystals, Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Asian Gallium Oxide Alliance. The theme of this conference is " Build Solid Foundation, Co Create the Future ". It brought together experts and scholars in the field of Gallium Oxide materials and devices from both sides of the Taiwan Strait to exchange the latest progress, discuss key scientific and technological issues, and promote cross-strait scientific collaboration and continuous innovation.


This grand event attracted over 400 experts, scholars and postgraduate students from various universities, research institutions and enterprises, fully demonstrating the extensive attention and rapid development momentum of Gallium Oxide and related wide band gap semiconductor materials in both academic and industrial circles. The conference is not only a place where ideas and achievements collide, but also an important hub for promoting the in-depth integration of industry, education and research, as well as facilitating technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
The conference officially opened amid warm applause and was presided over by Qi Hongji, the director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Wide Band Gap and Ultra-Wide Band Gap Semiconductor Materials. Researcher Shao Yuchuan, deputy director of the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Researcher Zhang Bo, deputy director of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, delivered speeches respectively. Professor Wang Gang from Sun Yat-sen University, in his capacity as the chairperson of the conference, gave a welcoming speech, successfully kicking off the conference.

This conference brought together top scholars and industry pioneers in the field of Gallium Oxide from both sides of the Taiwan Strait and internationally, establishing a high-level academic and technological exchange platform. The conference features 10 invited talks and a strong lineup of experts. Among them are Professor Takashi Egawa from Nagoya Institute of Technology (Japan), Associate Professor Wenhai Wong from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor Shibing Long from the University of Science and Technology of China, Professor Jiandong Ye from Nanjing University, Professor Xiufang Chen from Shandong University, Professor Hong Zhou from Xidian University, Associate Professor Guanzhang Zhang from Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Professor Daniela Gogova from Linköping University (Sweden), Professor Zhechuan Feng from Kennesaw State University (USA), and Mr. Masayuki Sasaki from Novel Crystal Technology (Japan).
They delivered wonderful reports on the latest research progress in Gallium Oxide and wide band gap semiconductors, showcasing the innovative vitality and development potential of this field. The conference also invited Mr. Liu Wenqiu from the Shenzhen Enterprise Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Association to share insights on the intellectual property landscape of the Gallium Oxide industry, offering new perspectives for the integration of academia and industry.


The conference featured three sub-forums, each focusing on the common theory of Gallium Oxide, materials and devices for power applications, and materials and devices for optoelectronics and other applications. Experts engaged in in-depth discussions across the three sub-forums, delivering a total of 78 reports. The venue also showcased 45 high-quality posters, attracting many participants to stop and exchange ideas, fully demonstrating the strong attention to academic content and research achievements and highlighting the scientific research vitality and innovation depth in the field of Gallium Oxide. Compared with the previous session, this conference presented new attempts and technological breakthroughs in domestic material preparation, device design, and application expansion. These developments not only underscore the breadth and depth of Gallium Oxide research but also reflect the industry’s high interest in technological innovation and application prospects, providing an important reference for the integration of academia, industry, and research, as well as for industry upgrading.



The grand finale - the roundtable forum, themed "Gathering Strength, Synergy, and Leadership - New Paths for industry, education and research Synergy and Cross-Strait Cooperation in Gallium Oxide Materials and Devices", was held under the chairmanship of Professor Ye Jiandong from Nanjing University. The forum invited Professor Tao Xutang from Shandong University, Professor Cao Bingyang from Tsinghua University, Qi Hongji, director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of wide band gap and ultra-wide band gap Semiconductor Materials, Researcher Feng Zhihong from the 13th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, and Senior Engineer Liu Zhaohui from the National New Energy Vehicle Technology Innovation Center, among other experts, scholars and industry representatives, to gather together. Have an in-depth dialogue on the development trends of the industry, as well as new models of collaborative innovation and cooperation among industry, education and research.
The experts attending the conference engaged in a brilliant discussion on Gallium Oxide materials, covering multiple dimensions such as substrates, epitaxial layers, devices, and practical applications. Based on years of professional experience and profound academic accumulation, experts have conducted in-depth interpretations of the latest industry trends, pointed out the key pain points existing in the current research and industrialization process, and also reflected that the Gallium Oxide industry has received more market attention than before. During the process, experts in the audience also actively participated in the discussion session, with frequent exchanges of views and a lively atmosphere, which not only stimulated new ideas but also provided valuable references and inspirations for scientific and technological personnel and business practitioners. This exchange fully demonstrated the broad development potential and strong innovative impetus in the field of Gallium Oxide materials and devices, and pointed out the direction for the future industrial and technological development.

THE ALLIANCE

During this conference, the Alliance, as one of the organizing units, was fully involved in all preparatory and organizational work. It actively cooperated with the organizers and undertook key tasks such as pre-conference investment promotion, report invitations, and video translation of foreign experts’ presentations, providing strong support for the smooth running of the event.
At the conference, the Alliance booth featured a wide range of engaging activities, attracting numerous guests and visitors. The “Follow and Get Great Gifts” event created a lively atmosphere, with related articles receiving over 600 views and the number of followers increasing by nearly 100, generating a highly positive response. The event allowed Alliance staff to hear directly from their audience, gaining not only affirmation and support but also valuable feedback and suggestions.
Additionally, the Alliance mascot made its debut at the booth, drawing significant attention from attendees. To help participants better understand the Alliance, the latest version of the Alliance manual was distributed and promotional posters were displayed, systematically showcasing the eight major service areas. For college faculty and students, emphasis was placed on the Alliance’s official account content and academic papers, as well as the application of the talent pool in school–enterprise joint recruitment. For enterprises and institutions, the focus was on the Alliance’s publicity and promotion services, resource matching, and industry standard customization offerings—fully demonstrating the Alliance’s professional capabilities in supporting industry–academia–research collaboration and enabling industrial development.

The Alliance also took the initiative to engage in face-to-face discussions with some attending experts, exploring the integration of academic frontiers, technological innovation, and industrial applications. These exchanges provided valuable insights for the Alliance’s future project collaborations, technology promotion, and industry standard development. The Alliance’s efforts in the regular operation of its official accounts and other daily activities were also recognized by the experts, who affirmed the Alliance’s ongoing contribution to sharing research findings and industry information. Through this series of activities and exchanges, the Alliance not only expanded its influence but also actively promoted the collaboration across the Gallium Oxide industry chain and the integration of industry, education, and research.


In addition, the Alliance held in-depth exchanges with the nine member units participating in this exhibition—Shandong Liguan Microelectronics Equipment Co., Ltd, Hangzhou Fujia Gallium Technology Co., Ltd., Suzhou GAO SEMI Co., Ltd., Lanhe Technology (Shaoxing) Co., Ltd., Shandong Jingsheng Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., Fujian Sunwise Semiconductor Co., Ltd., Tianjin Wonder-Sino International Trade Co.,Ltd, Hangzhou Garen Semiconductor Co., Ltd., and Suzhou GAO Semiconductor Co.,Ltd. (listed in order of booth numbers)—to gain a deeper understanding of the actual service needs and development demands of upstream and downstream enterprises and members within the industrial chain.

At the successful conclusion of the conference, Researcher Qi Hongji led the participants in reviewing the remarkable journey of the past five sessions and the positive role this conference series has played in advancing the development of the Gallium Oxide industry. Since its inception by Professor Xia Changtai from the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Cross-Strait Conference on Gallium Oxide and Related Materials and Devices has grown into a significant academic event in the field. On this occasion, Researcher Qi Hongji also expressed his sincere gratitude to Professor Xia Changtai, who is about to retire, during the welcome dinner. Finally, Researcher Qi Hongji announced the time and venue of the next conference and played a video message from Professor Xu Jun of Tongji University, the organizer of the next session. He expressed his anticipation of reuniting with all participants and professionals in the Gallium Oxide community at Tongji University in Shanghai in 2027 to celebrate this grand event together.
