Introduction

Asian Gallium Oxide Alliance (AGOA) was established in July 2022, jointly initiated by several well-known universities, research institutes, and industrial enterprises across Asia. The alliance is dedicated to promoting innovation and application of ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor Gallium Oxide materials. With its excellent properties and broad prospects, Gallium Oxide is gradually becoming a core material driving the next generation of semiconductor technology revolution. Upholding the spirit of “Connect Next Generation,” AGOA integrates superior resources and builds an interdisciplinary and cross-sector innovation platform. Alliance unites industry strength to promote collective development and drive progress across the Gallium Oxide field.

In January 2024, the alliance established the “Hangzhou Fuyang Gallium Valley Gallium Oxide Industry Development Service Center” in Fuyang District, Hangzhou. The establishment of this physical platform has further strengthened the alliance’s organizational and service capabilities, providing a long-term operational foundation for delivering industry services, facilitating project matchmaking, and promoting the commercialization of research outcomes. As of June 2025, the alliance has over 70 members, covering the entire upstream and downstream of the Gallium Oxide industry chain. The alliance, guided by industrial demand, continues to promote the industrialization and large-scale application of scientific research, accelerating the transition of gallium oxide technologies from laboratory research to industrial implementation and market-oriented deployment. By building a full-chain, coordinated development ecosystem spanning basic research, technological breakthroughs, industrial transformation, and large-scale application, the alliance takes innovation-driven development, demand orientation, green and low-carbon principles, and open collaboration as its core development trajectory. It further deepens multi-dimensional integration across industry, education, research, application, and finance, driving the Gallium Oxide sector toward high-end, intelligent, green, and clustered development, and providing essential material support and a solid industrial foundation for the construction of a strong manufacturing nation and a science and technology powerhouse.

Upholding the service philosophy of “Dedicated to Industry, Professional in Attitude, Focused on Execution” the alliance continuously enhances its service capabilities, advances the development of industry standardization, expands its international cooperation network, and builds bridges for cross-border exchange to enable resource sharing and technological complementarity. Through sustained operation and capacity building, the alliance has gradually evolved into a professional platform that combines industrial organization with resource integration capabilities, playing an active role in promoting technological innovation among enterprises and in strengthening the overall Gallium Oxide industrial ecosystem.

A unified system of group standards, national standards, and even international standards constitutes one of the key foundations for industrial development. In the construction of such standard systems, the alliance fully leverages its role as a bridge between the academic community and industry by organizing universities and research institutes, enterprises, and expert teams to jointly develop international, national, industry, and group standards, as well as to facilitate the sharing of application cases. These efforts promote the standardized development of Gallium Oxide technologies across all segments of the industrial chain, providing reliable references for enterprise R&D decision-making, government industrial planning, and industrial park project deployment. The establishment of unified standards not only helps enhance technological maturity and reduce R&D and production risks, but also fosters a shared understanding among different enterprises and research institutions in terms of materials, devices, and processes, thereby accelerating the transformation of scientific research achievement into industrial applications.

In terms of industrial services, the alliance continues to deepen its engagement in local industry-oriented support. Through on-site visits to enterprises, discussions with R&D teams, and technical exchanges, the alliance gains an in-depth understanding of the actual conditions and needs of Gallium Oxide–related enterprises across production, research, and application stages. At the same time, it organizes project matchmaking and resource alignment activities to help local governments and industrial parks identify technology directions and industrial projects with strong development potential. Through this series of service works, the alliance effectively strengthens the linkage between innovation resources, research capabilities, and regional industrial development needs, facilitating the clustering of Gallium Oxide projects in key regions.

In terms of international exchange, the alliance is oriented toward global Gallium Oxide research and frontier applications, and actively builds channels for international exchange and cooperation. It promotes collaboration and exchange between domestic and overseas research teams and industrial companies in technology, talent, and information, thereby enhancing China’s level of international participation and influence in the field of Gallium Oxide.

Looking to the future, the alliance will be driven by producer services and connected through collaborative innovation to support its member organizations in overcoming key Gallium Oxide technologies, accelerate the transition of technologies from the laboratory to industrial application, and promote Gallium Oxide as an important pillar of the ultra-wide-bandgap semiconductor industry. The alliance will continue to advance the deployment of Gallium Oxide applications across industry, new energy, artificial intelligence, rail transit, and other fields, fostering new quality productive forces and injecting momentum into the industry’s high-quality development and a green, low-carbon future.
