From October 22 to 24, the 2025 Semiconductor Materials Industry Development (Zhengzhou) Conference and the Annual Meeting of the Semiconductor Materials Branch of the China Electronic Materials Industry Association were successfully held. Centered on the theme “Collaborative Development and Shared Cooperation”, the conference focused on breakthroughs in the research and development of first- to fourth-generation semiconductor materials and their device applications. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics, including: how to enhance integration across the industrial chain for seamless upstream and downstream collaboration; how to strengthen supply chain coordination to safeguard industrial security; and how to build the core competitiveness of new materials enterprises to inject lasting momentum into industrial upgrading—all aimed at improving China’s core competitiveness in the semiconductor materials sector.
Professor Zhang Daohua was invited to attend the conference and joined the opening ceremony as a guest participant.

During the main forum on the first day, Professor Zhang delivered a keynote speech titled “Progress and Challenges of Ultra-Wide Bandgap Semiconductors.” His presentation systematically analyzed the performance advantages, application prospects, and industrialization challenges of ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors, and discussed the forefront of research in materials and devices such as Gallium Oxide (Ga₂O₃), Aluminum Nitride (AlN), and Diamond. He also introduced the research layout and platform capabilities of Shenzhen Pinghu Laboratory in the field of fourth-generation semiconductors, offering insights and outlooks aligned with industry demands.

Professor Zhang’s professional interpretation and forward-looking insights clarified key directions for technological breakthroughs and provided clear strategies for industrial implementation. His presentation complemented the conference’s exchange platform, contributing intellectual support for the development of the semiconductor materials industry.
At present, as the global semiconductor industry undergoes profound transformation, materials—as the cornerstone of the industry—are playing an increasingly strategic role. The successful conclusion of this conference marks not only the accelerated alignment between cutting-edge technologies and industrial needs in China’s semiconductor materials field, but also the consolidation of consensus and strength across the entire supply chain to jointly build a secure industrial foundation. Together, these efforts will inject sustained momentum into China’s pursuit of material leadership and high-quality development in the global semiconductor landscape.
