On January 22, the “Entrepreneurs + Scientists” Integrated Innovation Semiconductor Industry Matchmaking Event, jointly organized by Quanzhou South Wing High-tech Zone and Xidian University under the theme “Chip Powering Jinjiang · Intelligent Future,” was held in Jinjiang. The event focused on integrated circuits and next-generation information technologies, promoting the accelerated transformation of scientific and technological achievements into industrial applications through university–local collaboration and industry–academia linkage.
The event was attended by Hao Yue, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Integrated Circuit Academic Division of Xidian University; Li Jianhui, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress and Head of the Quanzhou Electronic Information Industry Development Task Force; Zhu Wenkai, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Xidian University; as well as leaders from Quanzhou and Jinjiang, including Zhou Xiaohua, Wang Mingyuan, Wang Xiaoyang, and Chen Jinfu.

Hao Yue noted that Quanzhou is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road, while Jinjiang is the birthplace of the “Jinjiang Experience.” The local spirit of “daring to lead and striving to win” resonates strongly with the drive and resilience required for technological innovation.
As a key national base for talent cultivation and technological innovation in the field of electronic information, Xidian University has built a solid disciplinary foundation, strong technical capabilities, and a robust talent pool in integrated circuits and related frontier areas, supplying a large number of core professionals to industry over the years.
In earlier stages, the university and the local government had already established a solid foundation in joint technological research and talent development. This new round of cooperation marks a transition into a new phase characterized by “platform co-construction, capital empowerment, and ecosystem co-development.”
Taking this collaboration as a new starting point, Xidian University will transform urgent national strategic needs and real industrial challenges into “living textbooks” and “training grounds” for talent development, fully committed to supplying more pioneering professionals capable of responsibility and innovation for this critical technological endeavor.
Entrusted by Wang Mingyuan, Secretary of the Jinjiang Municipal Party Committee, Jinjiang Mayor Wang Xiaoyang delivered a speech. He stated that at the opening stage of the “15th Five-Year Plan,” Jinjiang is positioning the Quanzhou South Wing High-tech Zone as a key platform for hosting new-quality projects, vigorously advancing “Entrepreneurs + Scientists” integrated innovation to accelerate the transition of projects from laboratories to production lines and strengthen industrial chains. He expressed hopes that Xidian University, the Next-generation Information Technology Industry Association, as well as various funds and venture capital institutions, would continue to leverage their strengths in platforms, capital, talent, and technology, attracting more high-quality projects and strong teams to converge in and take root in Jinjiang. The Jinjiang Party Committee and municipal government will continue to optimize the “Jinxin Jinli” business environment, provide the best possible services, and consistently support university–enterprise collaboration, technological breakthroughs, andachievement transformation, working together to pursue development, share opportunities, and achieve win–win outcomes, while writing a new chapter of the “Jinjiang Experience” in innovation-driven development.

Xidian University is one of the council member institutions of the Asian Gallium Oxide Alliance (AGOA) and has long conducted systematic research in integrated circuits and wide-bandgap semiconductors, building a solid foundation in key materials, device mechanisms, and engineering exploration. This dedicated matchmaking initiative between Jinjiang and Xidian University under the “Entrepreneurs + Scientists” framework also reflects the practical demand of local industries for frontier technologies and transferable research outcomes. In light of real industrial development needs, the Asian Gallium Oxide Alliance places greater emphasis on how Gallium Oxide and other wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies can be translated into practical applications.
With industrialization as its guiding principle, the Alliance is systematically organizing key segments including material preparation, epitaxial growth, device development, equipment support, and application scenarios, building an industry ecosystem that strengthens the linkage between academic research and industrial engineering practice, and promotes technology validation and deployment in real industrial environments. Throughout this process, talent remains a critical pillar of the industrial ecosystem, though it is not the sole focus. While continuously strengthening the talent pool in the Gallium Oxide field, the Alliance places greater emphasis on embedding research teams directly into the industrial chain, guiding research directions to align with industrial needs and forming a virtuous cycle from technological exploration to engineering application.
From a longer-term perspective, Jinjiang’s practice of introducing university research resources through university–local collaboration closely aligns with the Alliance’s advocated pathway for building a wide-bandgap semiconductor industrial ecosystem.
Looking ahead, the Asian Gallium Oxide Alliance will continue to work with its member organizations to strengthen industrial collaboration, technological integration, and ecosystem development, jointly promoting the healthy and orderly growth of the industry.
