【Member News】Sunwise Semiconductor Accelerates Industrialization of Gallium Oxide Filter Chips to Seize the High Ground in 6G Materials

Against the backdrop of the 20th CPC Central Committee’s Fourth Plenary Session incorporating “forward-looking planning for future industries” into the overall framework of building a modern industrial system and clarifying the strategic status of future industries, regions are accelerating planning for new tracks and cultivating new growth drivers.
Recently, the Phase II construction site of Fujian Sunwise Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd. in Shanghang Nangang Industrial Park has been bustling. Several modern factory buildings have risen, with all main structures topped out.
Jian Hairong, head of the company’s Comprehensive Development Department, stated that the world’s first ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor high-frequency filter chip production line will soon be put into operation here. Once completed, the project will fill the domestic gap in gallium oxide piezoelectric thin-film materials, providing key material support for cutting-edge fields such as 6G communications.
In recent years, Shanghang County has leveraged its own resource endowments and industrial foundation to systematically advance the coordinated development of future, emerging, and traditional industries. The county has strategically deployed across six directions: future manufacturing, future information, future materials, future energy, future space, and future health, while focusing precisely on three key tracks: new materials, new energy, and autonomous intelligent driving.
In the 6G communications field, Shanghang County has prioritized the production and commissioning of Sunwise Semiconductor’s gallium oxide piezoelectric thin-film project, accelerating the construction of the world’s first ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor high-frequency filter chip production line, aiming to secure a commanding position in the future information industry.
To strengthen innovation support, Shanghang County has established 34 provincial-level and above innovation platforms and set up a “chief service officer + element guarantee task force” working mechanism, providing full-process, precise services to promote deep integration of innovation chains, talent chains, industrial chains, and capital chains, continuously optimizing the industrial development environment.
Currently, from the imminent trial production of gallium oxide filter chips to the accelerated advancement of lithium sulfide projects; from breakthroughs in “bottleneck” technologies to efficient operation of unmanned mining trucks, Shanghang’s future industries are showing strong momentum, with multiple breakthroughs emerging simultaneously.
Wang Gang, chair of Shanghang County’s expert panel for the semiconductor new materials industrial chain, professor at Sun Yat-sen University, and Lifetime Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK), noted that Shanghang boasts capital advantages including the trillion-level Zijin Mining Group, the hundred-billion-level Minxi Xinghang State Investment Company, and a billion-level fund cluster. With a solid industrial foundation, excellent business environment, and strong innovation atmosphere, the county has enormous potential in future industries such as 6G applications.
