On June 5–6, 2026, the 26th Instrumentation and Equipment Exhibition of Tianjin University was successfully held at the Gymnasium of the Peiyangyuan Campus, Tianjin University. Centered on the theme “Spring with Promise, Smart Navigation, Co-Future,” the exhibition attracted more than 2,000 visitors from both inside and outside the university.
As an alumni enterprise whose core founding team originates from the Department of Precision Instrumentation at Tianjin University, FreeSpirit Instruments returned to Tianjin University with its independently developed high-precision surface measurement systems. The company comprehensively showcased the innovative achievements and industrialization capabilities of China’s advanced metrology technologies in cutting-edge fields such as scientific research, advanced manufacturing, and the broader semiconductor industry.

Exhibition Highlights: On-site imaging in a noisy environment — atomic-scale stability under pressure
At the exhibition, the FreeSpirit Instruments team showcased its flagship product, the desktop ultra-thin probe Atomic Force Microscope (AFM-Piccolo), at the alumni enterprise zone. The system attracted extensive attention and discussions from experts, researchers, and university students in the field of precision metrology.

To demonstrate the core capabilities of its AFM system, engineers from FreeSpirit Instruments conducted real-time scanning measurements directly at the crowded and vibration-intensive exhibition site using the AFM-Piccolo. Samples included a grating standard and perovskite materials.
Figures 4 and 5 show the scanning results of the grating standard obtained by the AFM-Piccolo on-site. Figure 6 presents the surface morphology, in-plane domain, and out-of-plane domain images of perovskite materials measured in PFM mode.
The results demonstrate excellent anti-interference performance and low-noise operation of the AFM system, faithfully reproducing surface features with high fidelity. The high signal-to-noise imaging quality and exceptional mechanical stability of the instrument received strong recognition and positive feedback from multiple experts and professors in precision metrology.
