Recently, the Gallium Oxide Semiconductor R&D and Manufacturing Comprehensive Base Project of Anhui GAO Semiconductor was officially launched in Chizhou Economic and Technological Development Zone. Integrating research and development, pilot-scale production, mass manufacturing, and technology commercialization, the project focuses on breakthroughs in advanced gallium oxide chip technologies and their industrialization. Upon completion, it is expected to address the shortage of high-end semiconductor production capacity in the region and provide strong momentum for Chizhou’s semiconductor industry to advance toward a high-end, full-chain development model.
According to reports, as a key platform for the company’s strategic upgrade, the newly established gallium oxide comprehensive base represents GAO Semiconductor’s strategic move to target next-generation semiconductor technologies and develop advanced chip manufacturing capabilities. Unlike traditional projects focused solely on production or R&D, the base will establish a full-chain development model integrating early-stage research, coordinated production and sales, and continuous technological iteration. It aims to connect the entire value chain, including chip design, specialized process manufacturing, packaging and testing, and market applications, creating a positive cycle between technological innovation and industrial implementation. Through this integrated layout, the company is expected to transition from single-point operations toward a comprehensive industrial chain strategy and further strengthen its competitive position in the gallium oxide semiconductor sector.
In terms of manufacturing construction and technology planning, the base will adopt intelligent, green, and precision-oriented standards to build a modern industrial platform. The project focuses on key areas including gallium oxide semiconductor materials and specialized chip processes, with an emphasis on addressing common technological challenges and critical bottlenecks in the industry. Meanwhile, the company plans to leverage its in-house R&D capabilities while collaborating with universities and research institutes to establish an industry–academia–research innovation ecosystem. Through a continuous technology iteration mechanism, the project will optimize processes, upgrade products, and respond to evolving market demands, promoting a transition from scale-driven growth to innovation-driven development and aiming to become a technological innovation benchmark in the gallium oxide semiconductor field.
As a major semiconductor industry cluster in Anhui Province, Chizhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has cultivated a mature semiconductor ecosystem through more than a decade of development. The zone currently hosts 36 above-designated-size semiconductor enterprises and more than 130 upstream and downstream related companies. Within a 5-kilometer radius, enterprises can access comprehensive industrial chain support and collaborative resources, effectively shortening production cycles and reducing operational costs. In 2025, the semiconductor industry output value in the zone exceeded RMB 30 billion, with power devices and packaging/testing capacity ranking among the top tier in Anhui Province. Its overall semiconductor industry strength ranks second in the province, providing a strong foundation for the implementation and growth of new projects.
In recent years, Chizhou Economic and Technological Development Zone has continued to deepen its semiconductor industry development by conducting targeted investment attraction along the industrial chain, introducing high-quality projects, cultivating leading enterprises, and improving supporting infrastructure. These efforts have accelerated the transformation of the semiconductor sector from “catching up” toward “parallel development” and “industry leadership.” The successive introduction of next-generation semiconductor projects such as gallium oxide will further enrich the semiconductor ecosystem, enhance industrial competitiveness, and support Chizhou in building a nationally influential semiconductor industry cluster.
