On September 4, a project launch meeting of key special project "large size gallium oxide semiconductor materials and high performance devices research" of the national key research and development plan "new display and strategic electronic materials" was successfully held in Fuyang, Hangzhou.
The project is led by Shanghai Institute of Optical Precision Machinery, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is jointly carried out with several units such as Xiamen University, Jilin University, CETC 55th Institute, Beijing Sinoma Sythentic Crystal co., LTD., Fudan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology, Hangzhou Optical Precision Machinery Research Institute, Hangzhou Fujia Gallium Technology co., LTD.
Present at the meeting were experts from all over the country. They are Academician Yang De-ren from Zhejiang University; Liao Xinsheng, senior engineer from Suzhou Everbright Photonics Co., Ltd; Lin Jian, researcher from CETC 46th Institute; Professor Long Shibing from University of Science and Technology of China; Professor Luo Xiaorong from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China; Professor Sheng Kuang from Zhejiang University; Sun Shijun, researcher from 508 Institute of the Fifth Research Institute, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation ( CASC); Professor Tao Xutang from Shandong University; Professor Wang Xinhua, researcher, Institute of Microelectronics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Wu Tiecheng, researcher from Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Ye Jiandong from Nanjing University; Professor Zhou Peng from Fudan University.
Prof. Zhang Long, deputy director of Shanghai Institute of Optics and president of Hangzhou Institute of Optics, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the project undertaking units. He thanked all the experts for their painstaking efforts to attend the conference from all over the country, and briefly introduced the general situation of Hangzhou Institute of Optics. Professor Qi Hongji, the project leader, reported the overall implementation plan of the project and the research content, research objectives and implementation plan of each project.
The project is oriented to the urgent need of developing gallium oxide-based solar blind ultraviolet detection and power electronic devices, based on solving key scientific problems such as gallium oxide single crystal substrate and defect and doping mechanism of epitaxial thin film, microscopic electronic structure, thin film physical property and device performance structure-effect relationship. The project intends to make breakthrough in key technologies such as 6-inch single crystal thermal field design, high-quality epitaxial film growth, device core structure design, and to develop a new generation of high-performance gallium oxide based power and detector device.
The implementation of this project will connect the entire link of gallium oxide materials, epitaxy to devices. The research results are expected to be gradually applied to electric vehicles, photovoltaic power transformation, ship integrated power, radar detection, solar blind ultraviolet early warning and environmental monitoring and other directions, which are of positive significance to promoting the technological innovation, industrial structure optimization and economic development of related industries. Meanwhile, it also helps to break the relevant foreign technology blockade, enhance China's position in the increasingly fierce international competition in this field, and promote the development of China in the field of wide band gap semiconductor.
The experts at the meeting carefully listened to and fully demonstrated the project implementation plan, and gave full affirmation, and put forward constructive guidance on the project research objectives, research contents, coordination and overall planning, cooperation and exchange among various projects. After inquiry and discussion, the expert group unanimously agreed to pass the demonstration of the project implementation plan.
