"In September 2021, the company began to build a new plant in Shanyincun Town, Luquan District. After a year of intense construction, production will begin in November 2022. Xue Hongwei said that Silicon Carbide is a new track opened by Poshing company, which began to lay out Silicon Carbide in 2016, invested in research and development, and began small-scale mass production in 2022, with a output of nearly 20,000 pieces. 2023 Due to the development of new energy vehicles and photovoltaic and other emerging industries, Silicon Carbide shipments of nearly 100,000 pieces, an increase of nearly 5 times. Accounting for half of the sales revenue, the Silicon Carbide epitaxial business has climbed rapidly, becoming an important driving force for the company's development.
"In addition to the third generation of semiconductor materials, Poshing Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. also actively layout the fourth generation of semiconductor materials, such as Gallium Oxide, Diamond and so on. In 2024, the company will first start the pre-research of Gallium Oxide crystals and epitaxial materials. The company will increase the investment of human and material resources, optimize the allocation of resources, and implement cross-operation scientifically and reasonably, so as to improve work efficiency." Xue Hongwei said.
Power Cube Semi has partnered with a Canadian chip supplier
South Korean semiconductor design company Power Cube Semi has recently announced a strategic partnership with Canadian electronic component supplier Sigma Components, accelerating the internationalisation of its business, especially in its expansion into the North American market.
Power Cube Semi was originally a fabless semiconductor design company focused on the development and commercialization of Silicon (Si) and Silicon Carbide (SiC) devices. The company's products are widely used in fields such as server power supplies and on-board chargers (OBCs). In 2021, the company has begun production of 6-inch 1200V SiC diodes.
With the expansion of its business, Power Cube Semi further enriched its product line in 2022 by producing 650V Super Junction (SJ) MOSFETs through its foundry(DB Hitech), and successfully supplying them to a global electric vehicle company in China. The company also completed a Series B round of financing in November 2022, raising funds to purchase power semiconductor production equipment, expand the plant and increase capacity.
Power Cube Semi not only breaks ground in SiC, but also has a plant dedicated to the production of Gallium Oxide (Ga2O3). To drive sales of its products in the global market, the company recently set up a dedicated power semiconductor sales department and appointed director Lee Kwang-yu, who has 28 years of experience in semiconductor sales, as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
