【Member News】Changlong Zhixin and Jiufengshan Laboratory Reach Strategic Cooperation to Jointly Explore a New Chapter in the Industrialization of Gallium Oxide Power Devices

      On April 23, 2025, Beijing Changlong Zhixin Semiconductor Co., LTD., a leading domestic fourth-generation power semiconductor enterprise, and Jiufengshan Laboratory, a compound semiconductor research and development platform, officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly promote the full-chain industrialization project of Gallium Oxide (Ga₂O₃) power devices. The cooperation, which covers three core links of epitaxial material research and development, device design and manufacturing, and application scenarios, marks a crucial step forward for China in the field of fourth-generation semiconductor technology.

 

Cooperation Focus: Full-Chain Technology Breakthroughs and Industrialization

      The two sides will leverage Changlong Zhixin's industrialization experience in power device design and manufacturing, as well as Jiufengshan Laboratory's research and development advantages in compound semiconductor material processes, to focus on the following directions:

      1.Epitaxial Technology: Based on the 6-8-inch pilot line technology platform of Jiufengshan Laboratory, optimize the crystal quality and thickness control of Gallium Oxide epitaxial films to provide material support for high-voltage power devices;

      2.Device Development: By leveraging Changlong Zhixin's power chip wafer fabrication capabilities, develop vertical Gallium Oxide power devices with voltages above 3300V to support high-end applications such as high-voltage platforms for new energy vehicles and smart grids.

      3.Application Adaptation: Promote the rapid verification and large-scale application of Gallium Oxide devices in consumer electronics, data centers, new energy and other fields.

 

Complementary Technologies Accelerate the Commercialization Process

      As the first domestic enterprise to focus on the entire industrial chain of Gallium Oxide power devices, Changlong Zhixin, in collaboration with its upstream industrial chain shareholder Beijing MIG Semiconductor Co., Ltd. and downstream power semiconductor discrete device partner Shenzhen Langshuai Technology Co., Ltd., has established a full-process cooperative production line covering epitaxial growth, chip design, wafer fabrication, and testing. Its technical route is highly compatible with the 6-8-inch silicon-based semiconductor production line. This lays the foundation for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in industrialization;

      Jiufengshan Laboratory, with its globally leading 6-8-inch compound semiconductor process platform, provides core support in common technology fields such as material research and development and packaging and testing. Previously, it has support many enterprises in completing equipment verification and mass production.

 

Industry Significance: Seizing the High Ground of Fourth-Generation Semiconductor Technology

      Gallium Oxide, as an ultra-wide band gap semiconductor material, features a higher breakdown electric field strength and power density, and is regarded as a disruptive technology for the next generation of power devices. According to FLOSFIA's prediction, the global market size of Gallium Oxide power devices will exceed 1.5 billion US dollars by 2030. This collaboration, through the "enterprise + research platform" collaborative model, is expected to enable China to achieve independence in this field from materials to applications, reshaping the global power semiconductor competition landscape.

 

Prospects Ahead

      Both sides plan to showcase their latest technological achievements at the Jiufeng Mountain Forum next year in 2026 and accelerate the application process of Gallium Oxide power devices at the application end. This cooperation not only provides key technical support for national strategic demands such as new energy and smart grids, but also support China's semiconductor industry to occupy a core position in the global value chain.
