Focusing on the current development landscape and collaborative needs of the Gallium Oxide (Ga₂O₃) field, and adhering to its philosophy of “industry focus, professional attitude, and dedicated execution,” the Alliance (AGOA) visited Sichuan University on April 13 for its first face-to-face exchange with the Gallium Oxide research team from the School of Physics.

The Alliance engaged in in-depth discussions with faculty representatives, including Professor Xiang Gang, Associate Professor Yang Zhimei, Vice Dean Ma Yao, Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Bo, and Youth League Secretary Wu Haiying. Centered on research progress and membership services, the exchange deepened mutual understanding, built a consensus for cooperation, and promoted strategic alignment in key technical areas.

At the start of the meeting, the university introduced the School of Physics’ Gallium Oxide research team. The team focuses on the full-chain development of Gallium Oxide—spanning fundamental research and device development to industrialization—with long-term expertise in doping modification, defect engineering, and novel semiconductor device development. Possessing both rigorous theoretical foundations and strong industrial translation potential, the team is a leading model for industry–academia integration in China’s semiconductor sector. The Alliance expressed high recognition of the team’s recent milestones.

Subsequently, the Alliance presented its strategic positioning, resource integration strengths, and service framework. It highlighted six core service pillars: communication and outreach, conference organization, standardization, talent pool development, resource matchmaking, and the publication of industry reports and white papers. This overview demonstrated the platform’s capacity to support high-level research and facilitate industrial synergy.

During the discussion on membership services, Professor Xiang’s team expressed strong interest in the Alliance's capabilities regarding conference organization, industrial matchmaking, and standardization. Based on their specific development goals, the two parties engaged in targeted talks and expressed a clear commitment to pursuing concrete, long-term collaboration.

The research team also acknowledged the Alliance’s role in advancing the Gallium Oxide industry. Specifically, in terms of academic dissemination and technology promotion, the Alliance provides vital support through systematic information integration and coordinated communication strategies. This enables the efficient transfer of research outputs to the broader industry, enhancing both academic impact and commercial visibility.

Building on this initial meeting, the visit clarified several directions for future partnership and strengthened the bridge between laboratory research and industrial application. It lays a solid foundation for a sustained cooperation mechanism in resource sharing, talent synergy, and technology transfer, providing practical momentum for the development of the Gallium Oxide ecosystem.
