Introduction

      Established on February 28, 2019, ZJU-Hangzhou Global Science and Technology Innovation Center(hereinafter referred to as the Center) is a major science and technology innovation platform for Zhejiang University and Hangzhou to comprehensively deepen the strategic cooperation between the city and universities in the new era.

      With the goal of building a world-class global top science and technology innovation center and leading the future development, the Center faces the major national strategies, the major regional development needs and the frontier of international science, focusing on the integration of material science, information science and life science, connecting the whole chain of frontier scientific research, disruptive technology research and development, and achievement industrialization. The Center thoroughly implements the major decisions and arrangements of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech during his visit to Zhejiang. The Center takes concrete measure to build "an important window to show socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era", and is a major landmark project to fully implement the deployment of the seventh Plenary Session of the 14th Provincial Party Committee, build a high-level innovative province, and build a highland of science and innovation.

      The Center adheres to institutional innovation and strives to build new research and development institutions. The Center gathers a group of strategic scientists who are good at industry-university-research collaboration, entrepreneurs who master cutting-edge technologies, and investors facing core technologies. The Center is committed to building a new type of university campus for talent training, cutting-edge technology and social services, open science and technology parks that promotes the transformation of achievements, technology trading and industrial investment, and excellent innovation special zone that promotes technological innovation, industrial innovation and institutional innovation, to build a demonstration place of advanced manufacturing, a source of innovative economy, and a cluster of core science and technology.

Achievements

      In terms of scientific research results, provincial integrated circuit innovation platform built the only 12-inch 55nm CMOS complete set of process line which successfully got through and produced. Advanced Semiconductor Research Institute has successfully grown 6 inch and 8 inch silicon carbide single crystal, breaking through the foreign technology blockade, successfully developed the first silicon carbide single crystal, gallium oxide single crystal, silicon carbide wafer, gallium oxide single crystal substrate, etc. Biological and Molecular Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute independently developed iBioFroundry and iChemFroundry high-throughput automation scientific devices; Quantum Computing Innovation Workshop has released a series of academic achievements on superconducting quantum chips such as "Mogan 1" and "Tianmu 1", which have refreshed the key indicators of quantum computing for many times and supported China to come into the first echelon in the field of quantum computing. In addition, the total number of national projects led / participated by the Center reached 40, the total number of provincial "Vanguard" and "Bellwethers" projects reached 18, and the total number of high-level papers reached 565.

      In terms of achievement transformation, the Center makes every effort to smooth "the first kilometer" and "the last kilometer" of the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It accurately retrieve industry data through patent navigation big data, locate the shortage technology at the manufacturing end. Relying on the new path of "science company + enterprise cooperation", the Center layouts the team according to the market technology demand, makes the scientific research projects accurately capture the market gap, and promotes the rapid breakthrough and landing transformation of cutting-edge technologies. A total of 820 patents have been applied for, and 170 patents have been granted. The Center adheres to facing industrial needs and serving regional economic development. Joining hands with Chuanhua Group, Sunny Group and other leading enterprises, the Center has established 2 joint research institutes and 26 joint laboratories, striving to realize the two-way linkage between scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation, and promote the transformation of high-level and high-quality achievements. The Center leads the establishment of Provincial Integrated Circuit Industry Technology Alliance, Power Management Technology Innovation Alliance and Synthetic Biological Industry Technology Alliance, gathering upstream and downstream enterprises to provide support for the promotion of key generic technologies, the open sharing of innovation achievements and the cultivation of industrial talents. Relying on the whole chain innovation of "cutting-edge research---technology breakthrough---achievement transformation", the Center makes every effort to build the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements and industrialization in the PLM, as well as diversified service modes such as science and technology finance, science and technology incubation, and science and technology services. The Center has established angel venture capital fund, supported researchers to establish 29 scientific companies, and incubated 81 science and technology enterprises.
