      Chaozhou Branch of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering Guangdong Laboratory, referred to as Hanjiang Laboratory, is one of the second batch of laboratories in Guangdong Province approved by Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and provincial government in November 2018. It is located in Chaozhou, a famous national historical and cultural city which enjoys the reputation of "China Porcelain Capital" and "China Cuisine City". It was inaugurated in April 2019 and registered as a public institution in July 2019. With Chaozhou Municipal People's Government as the main construction body, Hanjiang Laboratory is built in cooperation with Wuhan University of Technology, South China University of Technology and Hanshan Normal University.

      The construction of Hanjiang Laboratory is presided over by Zhang Lianmeng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of Wuhan University of Technology, and Zhao Mouming, Changjiang Scholar and professor of South China University of Technology, respectively. With ceramic materials and food science and technology as the main research direction, it focuses on R&D tasks in key areas of the province and the development needs of local pillar industries and carries out basic and applied basic research and results transfer and transformation. It is committed to building a scientific research and technology support platform that adapts to the transformation and upgrading needs of local pillar industries. Up to now, Hanjiang Laboratory has a total of nearly 50 employees, accounting for nearly 70% of master and doctor, and the scale of personnel will continue to expand with the construction of the laboratory.

      Hanjiang Laboratory has two innovative research institutions: Ceramic Materials Laboratory and Food Science and Technology Laboratory. Among them, the Ceramic Materials Laboratory is mainly engaged in the synthesis and application of functional micro and nano powders, functional ceramic films and coating materials, advanced ceramic materials and ceramic matrix composites. It is equipped with large precision instruments such as focused ion beam electron microscope (Helios 5 CX) from ThermoFisher US, laser confocal Raman spectrometer (inVia) from Renishaw UK, and X-ray diffractometer (SmartLab) from Rigaku Japan. The Food Science and Technology Laboratory is mainly engaged in functional peptide oriented preparation and peptide-rich food base development, structure analysis, functional evaluation and product development of active polysaccharides. It is equipped with large precision instruments such as high performance liquid chromatography tandem Ultra-high resolution Mass Spectrometer (Q Exactive), temperament combination instrument (TRACE 1300+ISQ 7000) and high performance Liquid chromatography (UItimate3000) from ThermoFisher Company of the United States. Up to now, it has undertaken a total of 11 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects, one of which is a major project of basic and applied basic research in Guangdong Province.
